This is a tajine. Like the term casserole it refers to the vessel it's cooked in. The meat is in the middle and you start from the outside and eat in. This cost me 2.50. Eating definitely agrees with your pocketbook here.

Ped and his new friend Hassan in Agadir. Hassan was a great example of the people of Morocco. Rarely in my travels have I found a group of people so hospitable. The traveler is afforded a special status in Islamic culture.

This is Rashid, a man I met in Laayoune in Western Sahara. I was pondering what to write in a dispatch and I came up against a wall. Rashid and I talked for a few minutes and although his English wasn't the best, he wrote something in my book that I'll never forget.
